Empire State of Mind

So, here it is. September 10, 2012.. my second official day in NYC. I flew in Saturday afternoon but of course, I was flying into LaGuardia.. should have known I would be delayed! After about a 45 minute delay IN THE AIR.. we finally landed and I grabbed a cab.

I got into Queens, then Amanda and I went over to a bar called Stout NYC that was streaming the Texas Longhorn game off the Longhorn Network. It was fun and crowded! We had some chicken fingers and enjoyed some Football.. naturally they had "Longhorn Specials" at the bar:

Amanda tried out some new yellow nail polish, then decided to try and remove it... it didn't go well......

The next day I went down to the Lower East Side with a friend to watch the Texans play! I didn't get any pictures of the bar because it was tiny and under ground.. but it was a great watch party!

I had a ton of unpacking to do, so after the game I was walking to the subway and this temptation from Satan swallowed me whole... The restaurant is called S'Mac and it is the best mac and cheese I've ever had. This was from the S'Mac stand on top of the F train, but if you go to actual restaurant they prepare in little mini cast iron skillets.. SO GOOD.

The "All-American":

This morning Amanda and I decided to run a couple of errands before we went out and about. So we went to the grocery store and I actually wasn't TOO appalled by their prices. I brought my food scale with me which is typically used to ration out the servings for my diet, but will now be used to ration out the servings to make them last longer! ;)

We stopped by the bakery on the corner on the walk home.. this is one of their cases:

The weather is GORGEOUS today so we decided to grab lunch in Hell's Kitchen (the neighborhood in Manhattan Amanda used to live in) so here are a couple shots on the way..

We went to one of my favorite places in New York, Empanada Mama's. They have DELICIOUS empanadas in addition to chips, salsa and guacamole.

My empanadas.. 1 shredded chicken, 1 cheeseburger, 1 mozzarella cheese and 1 Belgian chocolate for dessert! :)

We decided after we wanted to walk over to Central Park and lay out, I honestly don't think the weather could've been any more gorgeous. Here a couple of shots from the walk...

I got home and enjoyed one of my first sodas in 48 hours and some goldfish I got from the store, even the cans here say New York:

I'm taking this week to get settled in and doing some research on jobs and what not. Hoping to hit the pavement hard next week since I don't wanna be broke and there are so many things I want to do around here. I will keep this updated and hopefully soon I will have some good news to report on a job!! Wooo!
